The Current Had Other Plans
2026 · 48 × 30"
Description
In The Current Had Other Plans, Kevin gives a loose network of aqua, mint, and blue forms the air of a diagram beginning to think for itself. Angular passages bend into peculiar little chambers, while broad ribbons of white and blue curl across the surface. A cupped blue form leans into the composition from the left; elsewhere, shapes stretch, turn, and seem to reconsider their destination. A single orange stroke enters from above like an instruction the rest of the painting has decided to interpret loosely. The work moves between an invented anatomy and a map of uncertain currents. Raised ridges, translucent passages, and dragged paint give the forms a physical presence, while the pale ground leaves space for their small negotiations. Connections suggest elbows, channels, or passages between rooms, keeping recognition just out of reach. There is a quiet mischief in the arrangement: each part appears to belong to the same system, yet each seems to have its own idea of where things should go.
