Nothing Was Touching

Description

In Nothing Was Touching, Kevin stages a suspended confrontation on a pale lavender ground. A cool, splintering blue structure leans leftward while a warmer red-yellow mass blooms and unravels to the right; nothing between them actually touches, yet a thin gray-silver rope hovers in the gap as if trying to negotiate a truce. Across the surface, 3D-printed miniature chips appear at different stages of completion — some resolved, some still forming — so the painting feels simultaneously printed, blooming, and falling apart. Yellow weaves through both sides without choosing one, popping forward and retreating like a thread stitching a temporary peace. Beneath the turbulence sits a quiet homage to Santorini and Japan: white walls, blue thresholds, disciplined weather, all held in tension by the restraint of the lavender field. The result is a portrait of conflict without combat — two independent forces, closely related, kept apart by the very rope that makes them feel inseparable.
